Do I prepare menus in advance? Well, sort of. I jot down a couple of weeks worth of meal ideas, then adjust that a little depending on what's available/on special when I shop. So I have an idea of what I'll cook, but not in any particular order.

I bet I wasn't quick enough, and the caramel goody is gone eh? I see, so you have to market everyday? Or every couple days and you don't have the same items available to you all the time like we do??

Sorry, ladies, I've had sick kids. Again. Cara, yummy things only last the day here, sorry! I do a big shop every other week, then go to the fruit and veg shop every week, and do a bread and milk run every day. The less I'm in the supermarket, the less I spend as I suffer from "that looks nice, I need it" syndrome! Denise, tell us what your cooking specialty is.

Denise, tell us what your cooking specialty is. I'm not sure I really have a specialty. . although I suppose it could be southern cooking or Native American cooking.

Have you ever tasted corn cob jelly? Tasted it and made it--- it's frequently one of the jellies I make to give in Christmas gift baskets.

Wow. I hadn't heard of it until recently. Then I came across some photos of it and posted them, lovely. I think one was lighter and one dark because it was made with the coloured corn.

Denise if you have anything more to add you are more than welcome. I am a tiny bit early, but it is nearly Friday, and time to announce the third last Chef Of The Week...the second last will be Lucie and then Melody. It gets tricky at the end so that will be how it goes. Great, lots of fun yet to go. Go Deed! Hmmm. What do you marinade your venison in? It must help with the dryness.

Ok, Deed, here's a hard one for you........................................................ Do you follow recipes or just use them as a guide? If you use them as a guide, how do you know how much of any herb/spice/seasoning to put in? Do you trust your palate? Can you tell if there's just enough basil, or if a touch more thyme is needed? How do you work out what's missing when something tastes not quite..."there" as it were?

Sorry I'm late answering you gals, been just a tad busy around here. ;D Linda, I use a bottled marinade for my venison now, it is made locally by a family here in my area called 'Lupo's', delicious! Did some up a couple of weeks ago and it came out great. I have a recipe my mom used many years ago, this was before anyone sold a bottled brand. Soon as I find it, I'll post it for you all. Violet, this is going to crack you up, but I don't taste test anything while I am cooking. ;D I generally only cook what I know, and rarely try new recipes, so I just go by what 'looks' right to me. i.e. making a meatloaf, no measuring, I eyeball everything. LOL Now baking I do use a recipe, but don't level off flour, sugar etc... with a knife like we were taught to do in school. I think the only things I actually level off are baking soda and baking powder. LOL I guess I learned how to cook from my mom, but not because she showed me. Mom doesn't want anyone in the kitchen when she is cooking, I pretty much just learned by watching. Now with baking I didn't even get to watch mom do that, LOL Mom did not like to bake at all and still doesn't to this day. She did bake us birthday cakes but holiday baking was done by my oldest brother. I learned a little in junior high school, home economics class and the rest just by doing it myself. ;D I'm a good cook, but can't really say that I enjoy it all that well. Probably because I look on food as a way to survive. That isn't to say I don't enjoy food, I do, just seems like a lot of work to me for 20 minutes. ROFL Oh and I'm not too big on seasonings. EVERYTHING and I mean everything gives me heartburn including plain old black pepper, so I use seasonings very sparingly. Good thing Jack will eat just about anything I put in front of him. ;D Lynn, I'm not a big sweet eater, but I do love my cheese cake recipe and any dessert with fruit in it I love, love love! ;D This includes pies, cobblers, cookies with fruit fillings etc...

Cara, let's see my favorite meal to cook? Pot roast, with mashed potatoes and a veggie I guess. I think my real answer would be NONE! My favorite meal to eat out would have to be prime rib hands down! ;D
