That is very interesting linda.
Is there anything in particular you like to do with ground beef? That is one of our favourite meats.
Our stove is 600mm wide.

That's interesting about the differences in stove-sizes, BR. I didn't know that there was a difference.
We use a lot of ground beef too. It's one of the cheaper meets and so versatile. I make hamburgers, chili, meatloaf, put it in various casseroles, taco salad (or my dc call them haystacks).

If you were stuck on an island & had to forage for food, what 3 things would you want from home/your kitchen to help you survive?

If your children had to choose dinner for a few days, what would you be having?

If your children had to choose dinner for a few days, what would you be having? If our youngest ds was to choose, we'd have chicken fingers or chicken thighs and legs with Shake and Bake coating mix and mashed potatoes or pirogies. If dd was to chose, we'd have some type of pasta, or a meal with meat, potatoes and vegetables (she eats almost everything). Our oldest ds would choose macaroni and cheese (baked in the oven) or pizza or roast beef/gravy/potatoes/vegetable. Linda

Do you listen to music when eating? Do you gather around the table, or do you eat in front of the tv? What special memories are you making for your kids based around meals?

My preference is to all gather around the table while eating meals. Dh has a new job in which he gets home late, so unfortunately we're unable to do this through the week. But, we still eat gathered around the table on weekends and hopefully soon we'll all be able to eat dinner together again through the week. I've never considered listening to music while eating, but think that's an excellent idea! I'd like to try this as I can see it having a calming effect on everyone (I'm always amazed at how much it quiets them down when we are travelling --- as soon as I put a CD on, they seem to really relax.) Going to add this to my 'to do list' Linda

Do you have a lot of spice jars?

Aluminum, cast iron or stainless steel? Lol, pots/saucepans that is.
Also, do you use anything on the table, such as a tablecloth or placemats?
Interesting about the stoves. Ours is about 20 years old, and the company went out of business a few years after we bought it. It's tiny, only 535 - 540 mm wide, and is really too small now for a grown up family. I can't fit two large pots on there at once.

Do you have a lot of spice jars? I have 12 or 13 spice jars, but probably only use 5 or 6 regularly.

On our table, I use a vinyl tablecloth for everyday use. Since having kids, I find these easiest to clean up from spills etc. When company comes over, I use a cloth tablecloth though. That is so interesting about the stoves. I wonder why there is such a difference. Are there four burners on your stove? Linda

We used to have a slightly larger stove, but the one we have now is pretty standard. I used to daydream of a big gas one, or one with a warming oven.
Have you ever tried to make bread?

No, I've never tried to make bread from scratch, but I'd love to! I know a lot of people who do. The closest we've come (yet ... ) is we bought the frozen loaves. The ones where you set them in covered pan in the a draft-free place to let them rise. After a few hours and they've risen, spread melted butter on top and bake. We thought that would be a good start for dd....she loves to be in the kitchen baking. She wanted to try bread, so we thought that would be a good place to start. Hopefully, we may try making some from scratch soon though. Linda

That is amazing. If you could do that I'm sure "real" bread would be OK too. I am not very good with bread, dh is good at yeast baking. Having said that I should try by myself and see how I go.
