Tell me who has ever done this.....
A *no grocery shopping week* ? I was thinking about trying this myself. Let's say once a month, we don't do groceries and stretch what we have at home in our pantry and freezer. There's always some food left somewhere in the house, but we always go do our grocery anyway.
So let's determine when is the best week for you to not spend money on groceries in the month and let's do it!
We can even list what we have left in our pantry and put our brains together to find meals to come up with.
So who woudl like to try this? ;D

Sounds good to me-- I'll have to think a bit on when to do this and get back to you. I'm not thinking very clearly right now.

I know a forum that calls this a pantry challenge I think. Denise hurt her leg/ankle, hope you are feeling better.

Thanks Linda for offering your help! I'm going to plan my menus tomorrow. I'm going to check what I have in my pantry and freezer and I will be examining well the flyers of all the stores close by, to get the best deals in meat and plan around that. When I have my plan made, I will let you how I hope to acheive a week without groceries.

I actually go 2 weeks a month without going to the grocers. It is usually the first 2 weeks of the month since that is when ALL the major bills are due and with Don being the only one who works (full time) it makes things a bit rough.
I'm in for the challenge. What should we do first? list our menus or the pantry items?

Wow, Ellise! You're good at this! I'd say why don't we all analyse our pantry and freezer and list what we have. Then, plan what we need to buy and list that. Then let's print our menus. How about that? Am I doing it right you think? ....:*D

On Friday, just before I went to the grocery, I remembered that a hamper was coming next Friday. So I wrote down some of the brands and names of the things that were coming. When I was at the grocery I got things that the bottles suggested to have with them. I got an Italian hamper, so two jars said mushrooms. So I will use those up first and have some more next pay week.
It has helped alot. Today I used some of the extra money to buy two secondhand fans that our neighbour was selling. Ours stopped working a few days ago. Everyone is happy with them, and they take up little space which is what we wanted.

Linda, what is a hamper? Well, I haven't been working on any grocery-pantry challenge....I also don't seem to have enough long time to plan, always seems that something I have to do for the children and apointements and my aunt's move this friday. I really want to sit down and plan something very soon. If not, well it will be after Christmas.

Here is an American hamper club that has both groceries and presents. I use another company for gifts. www.familyhampers.com/Sorry it is English. They have a tradition for this type of thing.
