Here is a photo from a little while ago of our pansies. I am sure there are nicer pots of pansies, but I am proud of them.

Yesterday dh mulched the garden with free chipped up eucalyptus mulch from the tip/dump. He did a bit of weeding and planted my texas bluebells.
The sunflowers have come up in the places they grew last year.
It has been difficult with late frosts. The lawn has dried out in places, but we have tried to keep up with the watering.
We have a new carpet rose in the wheelbarrow.
We have also self-sown vegetables out the back.

We have gone onto stage one water restrictions, so dh makes a point of watering each morning. We planted some (hopefully) small sunflowers along the front fence, ds and I did that. DH planted a mixture of smallish sunflowers amongst the flowers out the back, straight out from our back door. I gave away some winter squash seeds and pink coreopsis today as they are not common here, and our visitor was making a special vegetable garden. We also planted some pinks a few days ago and other flower seeds. DH was really pleased with the straw that came out of the guineapigs cage for the garden. Roses are the main feature of our garden atm. The tiger lillies are growing so fast. dh pruned the winter buddliea, we like to keep it up high like a canopy for the other plants. It is starting to feel alot like summer. It feels like Christmas as the neighbours red bottlebrushes are out, lovely.

The sunflowers are up. On the same day it rained, and dh saw so many snails out there in the dark. Luckily we did something before they are any sunflowers. Here are my orchids, or some of them, mentioned in my first journal. I have forgotten how to look after them. Hopefully they will look nicer as time goes on.

Dh brought back a second ornamental wheelbarrow from the tip. That will be exciting to work on.
Our red penstemon is just lovely. It reminds me of Christmas. It has just come out.
One stripey sunflower is nearly ready to come out. They look lovely and green and give off a nice garden feel.

We may be able to start taking some next week when things are a bit quieter.
I bought some lawn camomile today and some dill, which I use occasionally for soup. It is a Greek lentil soup.

DH is not confident they will grow, it is so hot. We have been using buckets of water from the children's pool after they have a swim.

Here is a tallish branching sunflower, that may have crossed as it seems to have a ring around the centre now in some places. We are on stage 2 water restrictions now. It did rain a little today. The soapwort has started flowering.

Your pics are lovely, Br. We are losing plants by the day, but I can't bear to water any but the most essential as our water usage is so high already. There will be much activity in the garden here in March, once it cools down.
We go to stage 3 water restrictions on the 1st January. I do wish we had a water tank.

That's no good Violet.
In the mornings I hear buckets being filled from a tap near our window. It is a big effort isn't it?
My Mum is putting the most effort into her new trees. Her garden looks really lush, but that is because of the vegies planted amongst the flowers I thought. I must like that look.

That is my favourite rose. It is called "Friendship". It is having a good year this year, like 2 years ago.
I have also been wondering what the name of the lavender like flower is in the background. This is the second time I have had that plant. The first time it died out, I think before I saw the flower.

The tiny camomile is growing well.
DH dug up some couch from our lawn one winter, and dug it very deep. It was a large area and took alot of work. That new lawn that also had other grasses sow themselves into it is growing well despite not being watered. The original grass on the other half of the yard is yellow and basically dead. One is green and the other yellow. I think we put gypsum in the soil in the dug up section but can't remember.

I am really enjoying the spider lillies and the tiger lillies at the moment and the sunflowers.
