Does anyone besides me have trouble parting with stuff because "I might need it later"? Especially in these tough times - I wonder if after I give or toss it I will need it again and end up not being able to afford it or it will cost more than I paid for to begin with?

You're not alone, cosunflower! Dh is terrible in that regard - he will hang on to stuff that is broken "just in case", and ten years later it will still be sitting there, unused. I tend to do a cupboard purge regularly. I have kept a few things for too long, but try to limit that urge. My Mom bought me a pair of red pants, a bit like jeans, many years ago. They fit, they look ok although the shape is a bit old-style, but I can't bring myself to go out in red pants. So they're still sitting there, just in case I find myself with nothing else to wear. Eldest ds held on to his old, unused, Walkman for many years until finally getting rid of it out a couple of weeks ago. I don't think much in the way of technology is worth keeping. On the other hand, we have a car stored at my parent's house. Selling it would save a little money in the short term, but then when dh hands back the company car, he won't be able to afford anywhere near as good a car with the money it would sell for. So in that case I think it's worth hanging on to. I can't think of many things I wished I'd kept over the years. Except the money spent on stuff I didn't really need. Elisa

I am guilty of this too, cosunflower. I'm trying to improve though, but not sure if I'm getting any better or not.

Yes, I am the same.
I read something in the last few days that was interesting. I'll see if I can find it.
