I went shopping today and nothing I found suited me. I don't know if I am just feelin' funky or what. I got so disgusted trying on clothes, I didn't buy one single thing and came home. I am so tired of being fat, honestly, it is depressing.....sorry, not whining, just trying to motivate myself to do something different. Any suggestions, anyone?

Lynn, as you know we have a support system here for weight loss. If you need a buddy you may want to join one of the groups. ((((Lynn)))) I know the feeling, now, I just don't buy new clothes, Or I only buy them when I really need them. Hope you feel better soon.

Lynn,
I have to say that I can so relate. I just don't shop for clothing anymore. When I loose this weight and I can find something that fits me correctly and something that doesn't look hoochie mama.. then I might consider. I get depressed when I shop for clothing.
So I am sending hugs to you. Maybe we can both motivate each other. I would love to cheer you on.

I don't buy clothes either. Maybe you could try a more expensive brand and get something once a year. I have had success with ebay. Lately I have bought three pairs of jeans and they all fall down, so I will have to start again.

Oh I found plenty to fit me BR, I just didn't like the way I looked in them....sorry I should have made that clearer.
Carolyn, you are so right. Everything did look hoochie mama-ish to me. So immodest.
I think we need some fashion designers for us middle aged women.....what are they thinking? Me in horizontal strips? NOT! And all those funky looking designs, looks like somebody threw up from the 60's. I tend to like classic traditional clothing that never really goes out of style. And that my friends, is getting harder to find. sigh..
Pardon my ramblings this morning.

My dh had to translate the hoochie thing to me.
I thought I was the only one who doesn't like those skirts and things. It seems to be getting more difficult. I wore all those pink things and cowl necks before too, so don't want to go there again.

How about capris? My Mum tried to say I would look good in those army styled shorts, it is late here I can't think of a better name for them. No thanks either.

Hoochie Mama.....ROFLMBO!! Oh how I can relate ladies!! And I so agree on the horizontal stripes....WHY? I have the most beautiful sweater in blue tones, so cozy...my sil bought it for me but yup, horizontal stripes from top to bottom.....I only wear it around the house.....no need for a wide load sign in the house at least! Around here alot of the blouses and sweaters only go to the waist even in plus sizes.....well, after three children and no abs of steel, it just doesn't cut it!
Seriously though, unless I go to the big cities there isn't too much of a selection. When I find something I like say in a pant, I'd get 2 different colours in the same style. I found a cotton jean that I love and I make sure to get several pair when it's time for more.

LOL......too funny Heather re the shorter tops! My take on those short blouses is: Oh I could show my belly button too. You might not wanna' see it, but I could show it. LOL!!!!!!!!
I've had 3 kids too......and ya' know, at 42, things seem to headin' south......ooooweeeee.
I went to JCPenneys at the mall yesterday and found a beautiful v neck sweater, beautiful colors I loved.........horizontal stripes.....go figure......and why do they put banding around the bottom of those sweaters??!!!! If I pulled that down over my hips, girl, from the backside, I'd look like 2 pigs fightin' in a sack. HA. Not in this lifetime, baby....puhleezzeeeee......um no.
My problem is my hips. I don't have much belly.....thank you Mother for those lovely genes you passed to me. Praise God I have boys and they won't have to worry about their hips.
Really, the real women of this world should unite and make a publlic outcry and say.....here we are, we aren't shaped like sticks and real women have curves! So stick that in your designer plates and draw on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can we say I'm a little over the top on this issue?

Heather, girl your too much. Wide load sign.
Br sorry, I forget that you may not understand or can translate our terms. Or should I say slang. Hoochie mama clothing shows more body parts than I want to show. It is belly shirts, low cut jeans, short skirts, off the shoulder tops, etc. Things that are way too sexy for my taste and almost look like bedroom clothing.
I like traditional clothing as well, but I am much older than most of you. I tend to be attracted to *preppy* style clothing. Just like from the 50's. Give me a button down collar shirt, a pair of jeans, a pair of penny loafers, and a nice cable knit sweater, and I am a happy girl. I guess I like the LLBean or LandsEnd style of dressing.
Anyway, designer's *Get the hoochie Mama clothing out of the stores* and give us middle aged ladies something to wear.

Lynn, your a hoot girl. I am picturing two pigs fighting in a sack..ROFLOL You were typing as I was
Re, the short tops, I was just thinking as I sent my last reply that not everyone wants to show their belly buttons. While lucky you Lynn, have a flat tummy, and hip, I have no hips and a big belly that well, let's just say that when hanging out of a short top would scare the world. And my belly button, well I like to refer to it as the small grand canyon.
I do NOT want the world to see the 8th wonder of the world.

You ladies have me in fits of falling on the floor! I am picturing everything you described and laughing so hard my sides hurt! ;D I agree with all of you! I too grew up in the 60's and 70's, didn't like the styles back then when I was skinny, I sure don't like them NOW! I'm a classic gal too, winter garb for me is jeans, loafers, turtleneck and a wool blazer. I love classic they never go out of style as far as I'm concerned. I'm with you Car, why can't they bring back the 40's and 50's styles? I would so LOVE those! ;D I too don't wear horizontal stripes. I am extremely short waisted and look like an upside down light bulb in them! LOL
