My daughter found one of these at goodwill or the op-shop as we call them here. It looked so much like what I remember of the old fashioned ones. It was made by a jeans company in this case, much like this one: www.fabric8.com/finery/product.f8ml?PID=TA0123They must be very much in fashion. The amazing thing is that my older daughter has a skirt in similar material, so maybe she can use the stole to keep warm on cooler nights with her current outfit, admittedly she is only a teen, so not sure if it is appropriate or not. Maybe if a jeans company makes them it is OK. It is very interesting though.

Looks divine dahling.... I like the brown dress she is wearing. Are these making a comeback? I remember my grandmother wore one and I was fascinated as a child cause they had their heads still attached. I wanted to play with them as stuffed animals. I think they are very glamourous

I have always wanted something like you mentioned for a dress up box for the kids. I found one once at the Salvation Army store, but it was quite expensive so I didn't get it.
The brand on the new one is Just Jeans.
