If you have had your first mammogram, how old were you when you had the first one?
I was 42 but I think that alot of doctors are doing the baseline at a much earlier age.

I was 19, but I'm the exception to the rule. I have a lot of breast cancer in the family and at 19 I had a non malignant lump removed from the left breast. So I started having mammo's at 19 yearly for about 5 years, then because I have such lumpy boobs (fibrocystic disease) that they started me on yearly ones at about 25, been going ever since. And I have to tell you I am very grateful for mammography, it's what found my cancer 2 years ago in the right breast.

At 40 I think. Almost time for this years. I really don't mind them when I think what the outcome could be without them. I had a grandma to die from breast cancer. Bring on the smusher and check me out!!!

Have not had one and don't intend to anytime in the forseeable future (I am 38). For *ME* personally the benefits don't outweigh the risks. I ahve NO risk factors and have breastfed for a total of going on 3 years now and have four chiuldren ahving had my first well before age 30. Radiation DOES cause cancer.

I was 40 when I had mine done, they did find a lump but no cancer. I had a lumpectomy back in December, I did this because I displayed the same sympotms as Mother did and she had a radicl mastectomy back in April last year.

I will get my first one in a little under 5 years. Since my mom died of breast cancer, they will let me get one earlier than the standard "age 40" that the insurance gives.

I had my first one done on Dec 27 shortly before I turned 43 and had to return Jan 9 for a spot compression view of the right breast. It turned out to be nothing and I won't have to go back till next December.

I"m nearly 45 (grandmother died from breast cancer) and I've not had one yet. . . I do have the script for it in my purse, and plan on getting it in the next month.

I ahve NO risk factors and have breastfed for a total of going on 3 years now and have four chiuldren ahving had my first well before age 30. Radiation DOES cause cancer. I haven't had one either. I am 42. I had three children before the age of 30, I was 24, 27 and 29, nearly 30. I avoid radiation if I can, that is why I haven't gone to a new chiropractor since I moved here. I have breastfed a huge amount of time and don't plan on giving up the last little bit until May. The last two would then have been breastfed for 4 1/2 years, the two before that 14 months and the eldest until 6 months. Thanks Lori, I have been worried, I haven't been to a doctor since moving here either, ie 2 years, but I think I will get to a pap, maybe in a few weeks when dd is in kindergarten 10 hours per week. However, my Mum has had breast cancer.

I had mine just before I turned 40 I think - baseline. I have had one every year - but mostly because I had a small lump and pain and needed a diagnostic. It turned out to be a calcified duct, but I still have them yearly.
