I was just wondering if anyone else has gluten problems. I've really been struggling with being gluten-free the past few months since having a positive blood test for gluten intolerance (probably more tests coming up soon). Just wondered if anyone could share their experiences, recipes, be support to each other, etc.

Hi Dana,
Still waiting on my official CSD diagnosis here.....pretty miserable. The itching, bone pain, diarrhea and weakness drives me batty. I sometimes have to make myself get out of the bed in the mornings.....I've always been a morning person, so I'm having a bit of time adjusting to all this gluten/flour/carbs stuff.
Next week, I go for an endoscopy.....I will be oh sooooooooooo glad when that is over.
I'm struggling too, so yes, I would love some support in this area.

Hi Lucie,
Blood work will sometimes confirm the diagnosis. More often, though, from what my GP tells me, a biopsy of the small intestine will give a definite diagnosis. She says you can actually suffer from it for years before it can be diagnosed and that sometimes, mid life will bring it out in full force, which is probably the case with me.
I will see if I can find the website with helpful info on it.

Lynn, I'm so sorry you've been having such a rough time. Sending some hugs to you! I don't have the skin problems that some celiacs have but I certainly sympathize with you as I can imagine how uncomfortable it must be. I mostly have the diarrhea, intestinal gurgling & pain as well as fatigue and general bad health. I do know that I have improved since going gluten-free. I now am also dairy free and that has also helped some. I strongly suggest you take a multi-vitamin every day and I have found also that taking a magnesium supplement twice a day makes me feel much, much better.
I've been trying to go gluten-free for almost a year but got really serious about it a couple months ago when my allergist wanted the blood test done for gluten. He then told me to go totally gluten-free. It sure is difficult isn't it? I never knew how many things contained wheat or some form of gluten. Do you have any cookbooks and are you trying all the weird flours? Maybe we can compare notes on products and recipes that we like.
I hope your endoscopy goes alright, I'll keep you in prayer and thoughts. I'm not sure if I'll have to have any further tests run. It may be too late for me to have a biopsy done since I've been gluten-free for while.
I hope you get to feeling better soon. It does seem to take a while before your system responds and gluten sneaks in in unexpected places.

Thank you, Dana, I really appreciate your prayers. The endo is scheduled for Tuesday morning, 9:30 a.m. I will so glad to have that behind me....sigh.
Ok, no, I haven't experimented with any of the flours. I wanted to wait for a positive diagnosis, but you know, I'm thinking I would probably feel so much better to eliminate gluten/flours out of my diet anyway.
I did not know about the multivitamin or the magnesium. I will add those and thank you for telling me that. I am touched by your thoughtfulness and support.....love and a hug to you!

Microwave Pappadums
Lightly brush Patak's pappadums both sides of the pappadum with vegetable oil. Place the pappadum in the microwave and cover with kitchen paper before cooking on full power for 45 seconds or until expanded.
We had these last night and they were yum, almost like a potato chip in a bag from the store.

My celiac sprue tests came back negative. I am still steering away from wheat as that seems to really stress my stomach.
