Ok, how can I help, Ellise? Ask me anything. I'll ty to help. For sure, I cut all sugar. I don't drink juice either...it's too sweet for me. I minit my pasta intake in one meal as well as my breads. For instance, for breakfast, I eat 2 multi grain toast almost always with protein...either 2 eggs, cottage cheese, even sometimes I eat left meat in my toast. I even put tomatoes or veggies in between my toasts with this...I love vegtables and it all fills me up. I usally drink tea with no sugar or coffee with splenda. and I may eat a fruit and drink a glass amilk too, but I usually save my fruit for snack with a few nuts. If I eat too much carbohydrates in one meal, my sugar levels rises and I know it because I feel sleepy, sick and awful. So I always limit portions. I noticed I eat more oftened but small meals and snacks. This way I feel good all day. If I can help you in any other way, let me know. I'll check up some info about how much carbohydrates you need in a day....

Lucie you are an angel. The doc said not to worry about it but I'm worrying about it. Boarderline is too close to being diabetic for me.

Ellise,
My doctor recommended counting carbs instead of talking sugar. Of course anything made with refined sugar is BAD for you. I get 55 carbs for breakfast, 60 at lunch and 65 for dinner. This is based on a 1400 calorie diet. If I stick to this diet I feel really well and my blood sugar stays normal. I also get two snacks.
I try to avoid as much as possible potatoes, breads, pasta. I eat the bread that only has 7 carbs per slice and is whole wheat.
If I can help you in any way just let me know. I know how tough it is but your better off getting it under control now before it turns to full blown diabetes.
Hugs

Denise what a GREAT site sooooo much information!! Thanks bunches sweetie!!
One of my first "light bulbs" if you will was when I noticed the severe dryness in my feet, then I had a bug bite that didn't heal very fast, Then like Lucie described, I felt tired and lathargic, moody, and just sick feeling alot. Went to the docs and he said it was a little bit high but nothing to worry about. I've been Hypo glycemic for many years and just never thought it would "turn" around on me.
I will be contacting you all if I have any questions or concerns. I called the doc back today and he said again, there was nothing to worry about! But, I want to get a handle on it before it gets worse.

Ellise, I'm so happy if I coudl encourage you. And I think you are doing a good thing on watching yourself even if your borderline diabetic. Being careful might help you prevent becoming diabetic. Denise, thank-you for this great site! I will be doing alot of reading to help me out, also.

I looked up dry feet in my book by Dr. Gillian McKeith, "You Are What You Eat", she was saying it indicates a possible rise of yeast in the body and suggested a biotin supplement of 50mg a day and to massage feet with flax oil.

I have experienced a sickness after consuming coffee (at the time I was on strong antibiotics, and it scared me enough not to drink it anymore), chocolate sometimes when I am particularly allergic, and antihystamenes and also some dentist anesthetic.
Please rule these out as possible causes as well.

Well, like I said I'm not too worried about it but at the same time I'm not just going to "forget" about it. KWIM? So I figure if I put myself on a diabetic diet, pay attention to what is going on with my feet and wounds, then perhaps I can save myself a lot of heart ache and pain later daown the road.
Great links thanks for sharing!

Good idea Ellise.
Maybe we could help you rework some of the menu plans you have already posted.

That's a great idea. But first off I don't eat the desserts I make my family, unless it is jello or something low fat, low cal etc...
