Yes, the kids love sweet chili sauce, the one with the top you can use on the table. We had to go to a large supermarket 1 1/2 hours away and buy up on it, as here there is mostly the mexican kind, and now that they have more I can't keep buying them all to try them. They are quite different with nothing to tell you which is which. I think the word Sweet is supposed to be a clue.
I have never put sweet chili sauce on a hot dog Beth I promise.
American mustard yes, but I did do a bad cultural thing and put English mustard on my bread.
I think my kids said there was peanut butter Oreos, must ask them.
As a child we didn't have peanut butter in our house. My aunty did, she was German, her foods were different to Mum's. When I stayed there I found it very difficult to eat her peanut butter sandwiches. She lived on the same farm as we did, so did my Dad's sister and her family and also my Grandparents.
My dh loves peanut butter so the kids love it too, and we go through it very quickly. I am sorry but I am a Vegemite kid.
"Hot and sweet mustard", not sure what to use, any ideas Beth?

hot and sweet mustard is a mustard that tastes sweet with a hot kick to it....I don't think we are talking about the same chili sauce, the stuff we get on hot dogs is a canned meat sauce for hot dogs...kinda like hormel chili in a can but without beans

Jayne - definitely NOT the same chili sauce. :-) There is canned chili available in NZ, but not 'hot dog chili' as chili hot dogs haven't caught on. ;-)
BR - I don't know that I've ever noticed a mustard described as 'hot and sweet' so I'll have to have a look-see.
Oh - those peanut butter sandwiches - you gotta add jam or bananas or SOMETHING to 'em! PB and bread on its own? Eek! ;-) It's funny because growing up in America, I thought PB and 'jelly' sandwiches were, like, essential to EVERY American kid. A few years ago we had a lengthy discussion about PB&J sandwiches and it seems it was not as common throughout America as I'd thought - some people grew up eating some very strange-to-me combinations! (And that, coming from a person who does like some very strange combinations!)

Yes, I grew up watching Sesame Street, or showing it to my older children. It came out when my little brother was probably 4. They show alot about peanut butter lol.
We can get that marshmallow spread now, we used to track it down sometimes, and the jar suggested fluffernutter sandwiches or was it nutterfluffer?
I would not have thought to put chili on hot dogs, thanks for that Jayne.
Beth and I will have to work on finding a hot and sweet mustard.
I was looking longingly at the sauerkraut in the grocery yesterday, hope it is still there on Thursday.

You can get marshmallow spread in AU?! What about graham crackers? I brought some of both back with me - wish I had some more of those Graham Sticks, though! Mmmm.
I used to eat sandwiches with cheese, white bread and...marshmallow spread. Yes, I told you already that I like some weird combinations!

Here ya go, BR - tinyurl.com/atlax - I like the cinnamon sticks and the original graham crackers. Graham cracker crusts are great with cheesecakes, too. Can you tell I like talking about food?

Hmmmmm...peanut butter and tomato soup - I would have NEVER thought of that...but it sounds intriguing.
I have an aunt who NEVER had chili unless she had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with it. Me, I love(d) pimento cheese sandwiches with beef stew (mmmmm - can get pimento cheese here - am trying to find out if I can get pimentos and try to make my own). Used to dip my sliced cheese (toasted) sandwiches in Campbells wild rice soup - another mmmm.
One 'weird' connection I never tried was one of my sister's faves - pretzels with butter pecan ice cream. :-D
