4 slices Italian or Vienna bread (cut 1 inch thick) 4 slices provolone cheese room temperature butter or margarine 3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Optional: 1 or 2 slices of deli ham
Cut a 3 to 4-inch pocket in each slice of bread. Place a slice of cheese in each pocket with ham if you are using it. Butter each side of the bread and sprinkle with the seasoning and garlic powder. Cook in a hot skillet (no more oil or butter) until golden brown on both sides.
Notes: you can sliced the bread thinner and use eight slices---making them like a regular grilled cheese too. I also have mixed the seasonings
