We had a talk about our Christmas around the table. It doesn't really fit in with the thread about favorite Christmas images.
My husband remembers camping and it being hot and the sound of deafening cicadas.
Last Christmas we ran over a goanna in our car. It was the first Christmas where we had to drive over 1/2 hour for dinner. We also saw kangaroos on the way home, I am pretty sure it was that night.
I like the fact that pine trees were tied to the verandah posts up the street in our town and the kids from each grade at school decorated them with their homemade ornaments.

When we first came to this town to look at it, see dh's new workplace and try to find a house to live in, we were staying in a motel. The kids were so happy because there were Christmas beetles everywhere. Some are really shiny and pretty, I love them myself. They were everywhere we went on that visit. It is something special that happens at Christmas time here.

Here is a photo of our daughter with her hair done ready for ballet, standing in front of her class' tree in the street.
