I made this rather wild doll for my great niece's first birthday (in 2 weeks). How do I make some simple clothes with no patterns? Please give me some explicit directions, as I'm rather foggy brained right now.

Oh-- I can use ideas that are knit, crochet, sewn. .. just anything that will be easy for her to use, and simple for me to do quickly.

For a simple sundress, take a tube of fabric and sew up one side, hem top and bottom. Then just make 2 tubes of fabric for the straps and sew on. Or you could even use rick rack for the straps. You may want to make it bigger than the doll and put some elastic in the top portion, as that will be easier for little hands to get it off and on. I'm not sure but for a sarong, take a large sized square of fabric (maybe bandana size) Hem on all 4 sides. Fold in half in a triangle, place the center fold in the middle of the back, bring both ends (points of the triangle) under the arms and to the front, criss cross then wrap around to the back of the neck and tie in a knot. Hope I'm right. LOL BTW, your baby doll is cute, your niece is going to love her! ;D

Not sure how relevant this is: www.ehow.com/how_12248_accessorize-homemade-rag.htmlWhen I was little I made crochet tank tops I think and skirts made from a crochet square with a row of filet at the top with a chain to tie it on with. I even did that stitch Deed was talking about the bobble, but I think that was a little handbag and that crazy multi colored 60s wool.

How about a crocheted sundress? Make a chain that will go around the doll under her arms - sl st to make a circle. Then just go around and around in sc until it is long enough. You might want to increase every couple of rows to make it more A-line shaped. When you are finished with the body, reattach the yarn on one side and make a little strap - maybe 3 or 4 scs wide and long enough to go over to the back. You could attach a little fabric rosette to the front or weave ribbon through as well.
Cute doll!
