Arg, couldn't think of the right title for this. There is this french site that is really fantastic for ideas on how to refinish some things that you may find in the trash or dump. This is how she preps~ www.creacaro.com/pas%20a%20pas/astuces/main.html1. terra cotta pots She covers in and out with a water proof marine varnish. Then after it is dry, she paints it white. 2. Sandpapering~ all supports whether wood, plastic, etc should be sandpapered lightly so that the paint will adhere better. 3. Rust~ if the item you want to remake is rusted, you should paint with a coat of anti rust before applying your base coat of white paint. You can see how she has redone a plastic laundry hamper decoupaging napkins after painting. www.creacaro.com/pas%20a%20pas/plastique/main.htmlso she sealed and painted it first, then placed cut outs of paper napkins on it very carefully. Let it dry then used a coat of varnish over it. Then applied the blue paint. www.creacaro.com/collage/plastique/main.htmlwww.creacaro.com/pas%20a%20pas/avantapres/main.html
