I just finished reading her article and I can't beleive what I read! I wrote a comment, I hope they post it.... She says this now that they are young---but wait until she realizes when they grow up that she missed out on the most important aspect of her children's life by not being interested.

What a selfish fool!!...What goes around comes around and when she is old and her kids find her boring and shove her in a nursing home, how will she feel then???

I was a licensed nursing home administrator for 10 years. I can tell you many horror stories - not about the conditions in the homes, because mine were good (LOL!), but of family neglect.
I have seen residents who never, and I mean NEVER have a family visitor after they are placed. I have watched nursing assistants who were scraping by go out and buy residents Kentucky Fried Chicken or a Big Mac out of their own money because they wanted one so badly and the CNAs cared.
I have seen families come in once a year and be appalled at the deterioration in their Mom or Dad. Well, if they came to visit more than once a year the aging process wouldn't seem so dramatic.
This woman is raising children who will be "bored" with her when she is an old woman. What good will her career, manicures, and "me" time do her then?
Just burns me up - it took us 5 years to get pregnant with Katie. Why do people like this have kids? They should put them up for adoption for people like us who were trying so hard to actually BE parents.
Off my soapbox now....I am glad she lives in the UK!

The SMS in the theatre was the grating bit for me. Has she asked her husband if he would like to take them instead? Maybe she could just do something else and stand up to the crowd and say they don't go to the movies very often.

Anyway her kids will be grown up soon, and she won't be able to use them as subjects for her writing. For someone who gets bored talking about kids at parties...maybe she likes to talk and not listen?
