Saffron Bread"I remember a bread my Grandma used to make when I was a kid. It was called saffron bread - it was yellow and had raisins. My Dad and I used to really like it - toasted with butter and honey. I asked my Mom and my Aunt if they had the recipe or knew how to make this bread but they did not. Finally I found a book of historic recipes from England and I was able to develop this bread machine version - it sure gives me a taste of home! Ingredients: 1 cup milk 1/8 teaspoon ground saffron (1 package) 1 tablespoon butter, softened 2 eggs 1/3 cup sugar 3 1/4 cups flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 package yeast 3/4 cup raisins Saffron Bread Directions: Add all ingredients, except raisins, to the bread maker pan in the order listed (or as directed in your bread maker instructions). Set bread maker to the regular setting and start. Add the raisins when the beeper sounds to add additional ingredients." From: www.donogh.com/cooking/bread/saffron.shtml
