Re-introduction

I thought I had better do a re-introduction for newbies and update about what has happened since I was last here! I was here in early 2006 (when I was living in London, in the UK) before leaving for a trip across America and back to my home country of New Zealand. DH (who is from South Africa) and I had a wonderful 6 weeks in America (which I have posted about in the travel section) and then we arrived in NZ and stayed with my parents for 4 months while we sorted out a car, jobs, house etc. I started working 4 weeks after arriving as administrator for an organisation that promotes sustainable living, which is something I really enjoy. DH has had plenty of temporary work as well. We looked at 15 houses before putting in an offer for this one! Moved in on 4 November. It had pine trees to the north (blocking the sun and warmth) so we got 6 pine trees cut down to make way for a garden – on a slope!
It is quite exciting – and challenging – trying to figure out where we are going to put terraces and plant things – I’m interested in permaculture/companion planting so may experiment with a few things…

Anyway – it’s good to be back!
