I read historical fiction like Little House on the Prairie. Usually the characters use the Godey's Ladies book for help with sewing and styles. I found a website where you can see the book. www.history.rochester.edu/godeys/sounds interesting!

I'm glad you like it. I found the reference last night on page 70 of "Little Town on the Prairie", which is set in the Dakotas. Mary is getting ready to go to college and her Mom is making her good dress. They had heard that hoops were coming back into fashion. Without the book to help they made the dress wider so the hoops could be added later.
