On Monday, I was visiting with my cousin Miranda, (14 years old, home schooled) as her mom would be starting her homeschooling back up on Sept. 1st. We discussed some of her subjects she has this year as a freshman. She caught me by surprise and said to me, "Tammie, will you still be my art teacher this year?" Oh my goodness, did she ever grab my heart with that one! Over the past 5 years, off and on, I've had her over to my house and I work on crafts with her. I've helped her learn counted cross stitch, embroidery, scrap booking, quilting and such. I don't really do it on a regular basis, but I enjoy these things and it's been fun to share it with another person. And since I don't have a daughter, well, it has really been special for me to spend time with her. So, to have her ask me out of the blue if I would continue to work with her on arts and crafts type stuff, my heart melted and I just had my eyes fill with tears! Of course I told her "yes", she has no idea how special it was to know she still wanted me to spend time with her. Just had to share.

After participating in a swap recently where I was encouraged to do the crochet, I really appreciate the people who taught me how to do things when I was young. Because now that I am getting older, and even though I have been busy raising children, mostly I don't forget those things because they were taught to me as a child. I think you are doing a wonderful thing.

Oh Tammie! How wonderful for you. Your story really was touching and special. I think you'll be a great teacher and she will remember your time together years from now and remember how special it was to her too! These are what we call "warm and fuzzies".......memories we look back over when we are old, and we enjoy them all over again! You are going down in history Tammie, Congratulations!!! It will be great for both of you.
