This was on my news ticker yesterday, Frankfurt, Germany I think. I just had to at the headline. Doesn't she realize she's just making more work for herself? I didn't read the story though, and it's not ther today, maybe there is more to it.

Warning....here comes a "Lynn moment" !! Our society today seems so warped to me. If you choose to be a SAHM, then be prepared. You are a servant. And if you are a Christian woman, which I don't know if this lady is or not, not only has the Lord called you to serve Him, but you've been given the opportunity to serve your family as well. Now I am a firm believer in delegating chores....that's not what I am saying. But if you CHOOSE to stay at home and finances will permit you to do so, don't whine because you can't manage. Draw yourself up a workable plan and then work that plan. If something doesn't work, tweak it til it does, kwim?
OK, sorry.....I feel so strongly about this. Guess it's obvious, huh? Just had to vent a little. And Karen you are so right. She is creating more work and stress for herself and her family...rolling my eyes here too......

Gotta agree on that with you girls. I also want to add that training your children at a young age to do chores, will help with this process. Being a servant is a good thing but being a slave is another. Perhaps she didn't teach her family to help her and did it all for them. Now they are older and expect her to do it all while they mess. Yep Lynn, she needs a workable plan.

Absolutely Carolyn, children must be taught. I would be so afraid letting my children go out into the world with no life skills (chores, banking etc.....)

Yes there is a difference between a slave and a servant I will agree. Children do need to be trained. When mine were younger, they worked right along beside me in the house, until they learned to do those things on their own. Experience is a great teacher.
I agree with you Heather, those life skills are so important.

Women, teach your children to do things when they are young and under your tutelage (sp) I taught all my children, ds include, to wash, iron, cook ,etc. When my ds was in college he said there were boys who did not have an inkling how to wash clothing, and no one knew how to iron. DS made extra money ironing shirts for boys to go on dates. I was amazed that mom's would send their kids to college without knowing any of that.
And let's face it, taking care of our family is what SAHM's are all about.
I tried to keep in mind that I was blessed by God with a dh and three kids and that I should get up each morning with a grateful heart and humble attitude towards them and be willing to care for them.

Carolyn,
I type this with tears in my eyes.....what wonderful advice you've given us. Thank you so much. This just confirms for me that H&H is where I need to be.
Thank you, Father, for the wisdom you've given, Carolyn. I pray for strength in her body and a fresh wave of Your peace and love every morning......give her strength to continue to point us toward that goal of being a Proverbs 31 woman. In Your Name, Amen.

When I went to a university open day I saw their laundry room. It was like a happy laundromat, spacious. They had a neat drying room with wooden rails around the edges to hang clothes on. I was happy with that, as ds can manage that fine.
And Lynn thank you for your prayers for Carolyn.
