The holidays are here and this is something that is always made at Thanksgiving and there is usually a bit left for Christmas time..unless I have given it away as a gift!!!
Cranberry Sauce
This is the only sauce I ever had at my Grandma Stella’s. Be sure the water is boiling or the jello won’t set up. (DO NOT use the directions on the jello box for the water amounts or it won’t turn out!)
3 small boxes cherry jello 1 pound of cranberries 1 whole orange, peel and all 1 large can crushed pineapple, drained 1 ½ cups sugar 4 1/2 cups boiling water
Grind in a food processor the cranberries and whole orange. Add sugar and drained pineapple to this ground mixture and let sit for 20 minutes.
Mix the three boxes of jello with the 4 ½ cups of boiling water, stirring to dissolve. Mix the jello “water” with the cranberry mixture and pour into whatever containers or molds you would like. (Be sure to spray the molds with “Pam” so the sauce will unmold!) Chill for at least 4 hours.
These can go in the freezer; unthaw in the refrigerator the day before you want to use them.
