What does this have to do with Southern Hemisphere seasons? It relates to a holiday we have in Australia called the Melbourne Cup. I have been meaning to say, but keep forgetting, that there are manned patrols on the border between New South Wales and Victoria. I see them quite often.

They have one of those traffic signs with lights and a car with a light on the top and a person in it near the oldest of wooden bridges in some cases. Amazing isn't it?
