I hope this is ok to discuss this/ask here.
I would absolutely love to visit Australia. This has been a dream of mine since I was young (and that was many moons ago). I thought I'd never ever get there, but I've been thinking recently, maybe and why not?
In 2006, we drove across Canada (from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean) and back again (around 15,400 kms round trip). We ended our trip by living in a small fishing village for two months. It was quite the education for the dc (and us too!).
I belong to a Canadian Homeschooling Board and one of the families on there is leaving at the end of June for a three year boat trip around the world. I've been reading over their website and I'm starting to get that 'it's-time-to-travel-again', bug. Sooo....I am kinda thinking it would be neat if we could visit Australia. Unfortunately, I don't know a whole lot about it and was wondering if you could shed some light on things there for me?
Like .......
1) What is the weather like there? What are the seasons like and when are they?
2) What are the high and low temperatures?
3) Which areas would be best to visit? (Why?)
4) Are there any areas that would be best to avoid? (Why?)
5) What are prices like? (for example how much would one night in a middle of the road hotel cost? or a Big Mac at McDonalds etc. just something so I can figure what it will cost us)
6) How much is one Australian dollar worth compared to an American Dollar (One of our dollars is now about equal to an American Dollar, perhaps a bit less)
7) Anything else you care to add would be great!
Hmmm....that's about all I can think of now. Again, I hope it's ok to ask all of these, but I'd really like to visit there.
Thanks in advance!
