Tornadoes just tore through our area-- Springfield took a direct hit. Walmart, Target, Meijer, Best Buy, Barney's furniture, a mobile home court-- all with major damage. Power lines down, trees down. They are forcibly removing people from streets. . . . No power. I'm so glad I"m not at work today.
Murrayville- has entire farms gone.
Franklin- heavy damage (Deana works there)
New Berlin- heavy damage
Loami- damage
Buffalo- damage
Interstate 72 is closed, Rt. 4 is closed, Wabash Ave. is closed, Jefferson Ave. is closed. . . . .
Thank goodness I'm home. Deana is home. . . Jake has 7 people at his house, all safe. I can't reach my parents on the phone yet. They live in a mobile home- sure hope they are ok as well. The worst of the storm went north of us.

More storms tore through later last night-- one about midnight, and again around 3:00 AM. We only sustained minor damage (tin tore loose on the barn roof, small fruit trees downed). My parents are fine, although they are still without power, and likely will be for some time. We were powerless for about 12 hours. Springfield got the worst of the damage-- both sides of town were hit--- lots of downed power lines, businesses damaged , trees downed-- but only a few homes lost, and 19 people injured , one missing-- but no lose of life reported yet. They say I55 had at least 40 trucks from TN headed to Springfield to help clear debris, and restore power (the power plant took a direct hit-- one of the scrubber stacks is gone, etc.)

Oh my! I'm glad though, that you and your family and parents are fine. I hope your parents get power soon.

Scary stuff. I'm glad you and Deana were home and that your parents are safe, too.
