When I was explaining to my dh about no Super Center WalMarts where you are BR, he said, "Lucky them". He really dislikes Walmart for several reasons......the closing of the smaller shops as Car mentioned and of course, there work practices....i.e. only allowing the employees to work 30-38 hours weekly so they don't have to hire them full time and thus no full time benefits. They've really been in the news several times here the last few months.
BR, that info on house prices is not accurate. I don't know where they got that from! But I can tell ya from experience, it just is not so. Maybe that is a lure to get people into this area. I dunno'. We do live in an interesting area though. I will have to see if I can find some of the local plantations and the hunting expeditions. Also, about 1 mile behind our home is a big river called the Flint. It is home to "blue holes" which is the home of some kind of rare fish. I 'll see what I can dig up. Can't wait to see everyone else's links!

www.riverviewplantation.com/This is my dh's favorite, BR. He has been there many times, not to hunt, but to do some work for the owners and he says they are fine people. Lots of interesting stuff to read. www.coveyrise.com this is another one, dh says it is ok.

Thanks Lynn. I love all the references to blackberry jam!!!
Actually the hunt page, does look inviting, I imagine dh will love it. Our dog is a German Short-haired pointer. We love Georgia, we think anyway, a little worried about the heat, but I guess that is silly.

Walmart sounds very corporate, as you'd expect I suppose. We have a high end department store in Albury 1 1/2 hours. Our local emporium is an old-fashioned department store that is getting built up again, she does a wonderful job.
I have heard that K-mart is not going well there. DS will have a K-mart in his new shopping centre at uni.
It was the hill billy festival Cara, they didn't have enough photos!
Our K-mart where I loved to get groceries in our hometown had a car repair too. They also have a BigW now, which I beleive is a little like Walmart, Mum couldn't understand why it looked more like a warehouse than a shop, it looked unfinished.
Cracked and bleeding hands is not fun. We hope to insulate our pipes more soon to help with that for us.

Nearly all the Kmarts in our area have closed. Only 1 is left and it has been downsized quite a bit.
It does get horribly humid and hot in the summer. The worst month, IMHO, is August. Every day pretty much feels like an oven to me, anyway. September is usually pretty warm also. I think that is why we all love fall so much.....it brings us blessed relief from all that heat. Thank the Lord for central air conditioning! LOL

Oh Br...your family would love the hillbilly festival. Folks come from all 50 states for it. It is a small town so you can imagine how many people are walking the downtown streets. Alot of folks dress up like hilbillies and we have a big parade with hillbilly-fied cars...What fun. There are tons of food booths and carnival rides. Also in the park there are crafts galore. All the money raised goes to the Shriners to help burned or crippled children.
It is such fun. You all come sometime...Let me see if I can find some of my pictures so I can post them. I don't dress up, but dh does and looks too funny. I think he looks like Grandpa Jones of country music fame.

Yea, lol you girls should see him...with his jeans rolled up, his boots over the jeans, a t shirt, some suspenders, and his grey moustache, and those little round wire framed glasses of his, and that hillbilly hat..It is too funny. I am looking thru my boxes of pics to find some for you all to see. You will be amazed.

I am thinking what a hilly billy car looks like, still have to rent the Beverly Hillbillies again. I can't think straight today, maybe I should go visit the preschool again or ring them. I don't mind staying away, just not sure what Amelia is happy with. I think I tried renting it. static.flickr.com/15/20558368_f0e5af4911_o.jpg
