You may remember me speaking about curtains. I spent some time earlier looking on ebay for curtains solutions for our house that we recently bought. Quite a lot of windows have sheets on them at the moment. There were two curtains, not completely right but useable in some fashion and a couple of lace/sheer pieces.
My Mum came and took one set home. She found some material we had from the time dh worked in a factory. Also a pair of her own unused curtains.
I won one piece of material for one row of windows. However, Mum has cut a lot of curtains out. My MIL also has some cut curtains from her home that she was a little short on material. Between us I am thinking we will have it covered. I am getting a little fussy in some ways, as I have striking wall paint, so not sure how the curtains will go, but having curtains at all is something to be happy about.
I found an IQ book at Mitre 10 about ponds. It also had a picture of my bedroom color with a sheet that matches that gave me ideas. Also I have been looking at lino samples and the same magazine, which I got for free as it was a few months old, had a picture of the lino I like with similar windows to ours in the background and similar furniture to the chairs I have on layby, so that is promising.
I also have bought a nice light for the loungeroom, or rather dh did. This I guess should go into my organising journal.
The curtains are not in a rush as the windows have been taken to be repaired.

My curtain default setting was always miles of gathered calico! I love it, although it doesn't go with all paint colors. It's very inexpensive, too, and can be recycled in other projects when no longer needed. However, I know what you mean, Br, about getting fussy. If you are going to be living with them for a long time, then you really do need to like them. We still have "temporary" curtains that I'm waiting to replace - over ten years later. Probably a good thing, though, as the sewing machine's broken anyhow.
Good to hear yours are coming together, Br.

I remember when we bought our house in our hometown the agent mentioned the calico curtains. Would you believe I haven't seen it done, that I can remember. It sounds lovely.

I bought some calico curtains on ebay, I know seems silly. They are the right size sideways if I or dh shifts the tabs.

The windows are back, some are in, and Mum is doing the whole house, which is nice.

Lately I have seen some curtains on ebay that I liked and I won a couple so I am pleased. Can't wait until they arrive. I'll let you know how I get on with them. One set is for our room, the other the front windows. They should save us changing the paint color. It is sort of a sunroom. Today we painted out a yellow piece on a pillar to make it more uniform. It didn't take long.

The ones for our room we really like. We have been trying curtains on different windows to see what we like.
The other set, I haven't found a place for them yet, haven't tried them everywhere. They are a soft green with red flowers, but something doesn't look right.
The set my Mum made for our room, looks really nice next to the front door, so have hung them there.
The room I called sort of a sunroom, I have two rooms like that, has the curtain I bought on ebay that was intended as the laundry curtain. I like it so much, I found another one on ebay the same. It has white in the design and this has tied it to the wall, which is white. It looks really good there, there is two windows. It is a sea scene and makes it look cooler.
I absolutely love the red gingham curtains in the dining room from ebay. They just made it look homely.

I'd love to see how they look. Gingham is one of my favorites too.

I am due to take more photos, have thought of taking photos of that curtain. You'll have to excuse the windows that have been rehoused though, they have some paint missing at the moment. Though there are two views.
