For years I had glass - those preserving jars with the lids attached by thick wire that formed a lever-type handle. They look great filled, are hygenic, but are so heavy once filled with flour, sugar, etc.
They did get dropped once too often over the years, and as they started to break the Tupperware party circuit started around here, so I ended up buying a set of their pantry storage containers. They fit nicely, are light and easy to use, but do have a plastic smell about them.
I still have numerous small glass jars, mainly recycled jam etc. jars but the big stuff is plastic.
What do you use? And why?

I have two square jars like the ones you describe, but they are not used daily like they once were.
I use tins mostly, collectible types. I also use smaller retro canisters. Also Agee jars with ***** lids and a disk.
