Here is the shelf life of some makeup to help with your makeup bag organising.
Mascara: 1-3 months.
Pumping the wand in and out of the tub with force air in and dry out the mascara, shortening its life.
Eyeliner pencil: 2 years, if kept out of heat and direct sunlight.
Liquid eyeliner: 12-18 months, with lid kept on tight.
Powder eyeshadow: 2 years, if applied with an applicator (don't use fingertips as you'll contaminate the product and cause colour changes).
Cream eyeshadow: 12-18 months. Apply with an applicator whenever possible, or with super clean fingertips.
Liquid/cream foundation:
18 months. After that, the colour and texture will probably change.
Pressed powder foundation: 2 years.
As long as you regularly clean the application sponge.
Loose powder foundation: 3 years, if kept out of direct sunlight with the lid in place. You'll also need to wash the application brush regularly.
Concealer: 12-18 months. Keep away from heat and transfer from tube or pot to the back of your hand using an applicator.
Powder blush: 2 years. Wash the brush weekly.
Cream blush: 12-18 months. If in a pot of palette, transfer to your skin with an applicator then apply with fingertips.
Lipstick: 2 years, if the lid is kept firmly in place.
Lipgloss: 18-24 months. Gloss in a tube will last longer than gloss in a pot because it is protected from air and fingertip bacteria.
Lip pencil liner: 2 years, if kept sharp and clean. Sharpen before every use for best results.
