Does anyone here follow the FlyLady methodology? Every now and then I'll visit her website and rather than feeling motivated to clean every nook and cranny, I feel exhausted.
Although the site is wonderfully empowering and upbeat, the thought of having my day divided into strict timeslots and chores depresses me. Some days I'll have the urge to clean out the fridge, and some days getting out a ladder and cleaning all light fittings appeals. I confess to being one of those who finds cleaning relaxing. Other people do yoga, I tidy the linen press.
If we maintain a level of cleanliness/tidiness in our homes with which we're comfortable, is there any advantage to being super-organized llike Fly Lady?

I haven't been on the site for awhile. I think the mention of her doesn't have a positive influence on me, yet I can't remember exactly why. Must have another look there.

I use to get her newsletter, but I do a better job on my own. Sorry FlyLady

I get her newsletter, but delete it. (oops) I do find she is right about shining my sink and knowing where my laundry is. I just can't get that organized, having a binder and all. I find I do better to try and tidy some each day, and tackle things as I go. Of course, she would probably drop dead if she walked in and saw my house......

Lol, Cheryl - I don't think she has any kids living at home, so that would make the whole perfect-house thing a million times easier.
I used to be Little Miss Tidy and In Control, but now the kids are big (the eldest is 22!!) it just doesn't happen. No matter how often I clean the kitchen, or when the dishwasher is run, someone will come along and make a mess in there not ten minutes later.

I got annoyed when she put ALL her reminders on my Yahoo calendar, and I had to unsub to her Yahoo group to get rid of them. Her ideas are good but pretty impractical with children living at home. The one I think works for me is making sure I'm presentable before sitting down to the computer. I am always way more motivated when I'm dressed and not bumming around in pj's.

Nope, don't do her either...now where's my fly swat? Just kidding.....I have gleaned some good tips from her, but would rather follow my own little system.

Yes, I think the key for me is to get the pointers, but following the zones and all is to much like work for me!

The one thing she does say that works for me is dressing and putting on my shoes. That makes me ready to run thru this house..LOL

Shoes definitely help if you want to sort through a heap of dirty laundry. Serious, I won't do it without my shoes on.

LOL, I detest shoes and don't wear them at all when I am at home. Nope, not even summer flip flops. I'm a bare foot girl all the way.
That was another reason I couldn't follow her system. I just can't stand to wear shoes in the house.
Last winter, I was the only mom in my son's class with sandals on...and a sweater. LOL, I have my own built in heater.

Lynn, I can understand. I don't like being barefoot, but I wear sandals all year long! And often without socks even in winter...

Yep, that was me last weekend, outside with a jumper/sweater and slides on my feet.
