Ack! This is the room I was telling you about before. If I post these pics, hopefully it will embarass me into cleaning it up. I have seen pics of Dee's sewing room, though, so I don't feel too bad . Here's what you get if you're brave enough to go through the door: You can see the tubs in pic 1 in the corner of pic 2. This desk accomodates sewing quite well: Keep turning to the right and there is another window: And on around to my computer desk. *WARNING: This next photo is not appropriate for children, people with heart conditions or neat freaks, lol* And here's the top of that stack of tubs from the first photo again. The closet is the full length of the room, but I can't get in it right now: Once I get all this stuff sorted out (hopefully some of it will go to the shop) I'd like to decorate it in a bright and cheery manor. I was thinking of yellow walls with kind of a 60's flower look.

We have a dark brown chest of drawers a bit like that. I love your floors as well.
The oak? computer desk is lovely to see, Australians don't seem to have furniture that color and I like it.
Love the filing cabinet, ours is bright red.
I am trying to think of the look, can't think of it.
Maybe the brackets are the biggest issue rather than color, not sure. Storage? What about two taller type things and take the bookshelves down? It depends what your budget it. May not need to paint?

What a lovely large room Karen. Dont let the items scare you. Here is what I do when I am tackling a large room when moving. But all the things in one corner. Decide where you want the furniture. After painting...work on one corner at a time. Remove each bin and box one at a time, open it and go thru it to dispose of things you don't want. Put remaining items where they can be easily accessible. That large closet will hold alot of bins..:-)
I am certain soon it will be a wonderful functional room. Let's see pics when you get it organized.

Take down the bookshelves!? It took dh a week to put those up for me! We'll paint the brackets to match the walls. I should have plenty of storage with those. I'll keep the part of my fabric stash that I have plans for near the sewing area. My binders, CDs ans whatever else I have should go easily above the desk. One of the gray tubs is full of fabric. I have 3 more in storage. The two blue ones behind the filing cabinet are full of cone yarn from Mom's collection. There's another pile under the window in the 1st pic.
That old dresser was my grandmothers. It has wooden wheels. I also have a desk and cabinet that my grandfather built.

Karen I love the color of your woodwork, the doors lurking in the background look lovely. The right shade of yellow will look fantastic in there. Can't wait to see the "after" photos!

Sorry Karen, my husband did a similar thing for me in our first house so I can relate.
You are very organised with your fabric, mine is just in cardboard boxes which isn't ideal.
I agree with Miss Violet about the woodwork.

Karen, I think the woodwrok is just beautiful in your new home. When organizing your fabrics will you be using clear containers? I do and then I put all the same colors in one (or two) that way it is easy to see and I can just grab what I need and get busy.
