I have just read this book. I got the list from a blog where someone had asked the librarian for adult versions of Little House on the Prairie. I didn't realise they meant it literally. I did realise a little when I took back to the library one of them because I couldn't handle it last time. I also didn't find Ivan Doig great on google, and it didn't suit me, not that I think I got the exact title mentioned. I did read the above book Sandra Dallas, The Diary of Mattie Spenser and enjoyed it, only because I had read similar ones before and didn't get the same shock I suppose. I think Tracie Peterson's Heirs of Montana goes into the issues in more details, perhaps a little too much although I enjoyed that series. I thought the Diary of Mattie Spenser was a good read though, if you ignore those parts and think of one particular paragraph about grieving etc. after her mother dies. I liked that. I think it can be applied anywhere, anytime. www.discussing-books.com/?p=121This gives other books, hopefully they are OK as well, though please be careful.
