It is an expensive problem, I believe. There was a show on tv a few years back that explained how they fixed it. I gather that it's much easier to remedy now that there are special compounds that can be injected into the building to create a damp course.

Ours is not really rising damp, although with the edges of the floor not sealed, that is why it is damp inside.
I am very much trying to keep the underfloor very dry because we are in an area with termites, plus it makes everything nicer.
