Written by Fred Chappell, this book is set in the 1940's. "Part magical realism, part tall tale, this novel is about a young boy's life on a small Southern farm in the 1940s. It's also one of the sweetest books you'll ever read. After you fall in love with it, try the two other volumes of the "Jess" trilogy, Brighten the Corner Where You Are and Farewell, I'm Bound to Leave You." Quote from www.medianugget.com/1997/08/i_am_one_of_you.htmlCheck out the link; you can see the gorgeous cover of this book. It's like a patchwork quilt, in cream, burgundy and green. I bought it but have literally only read one page - the distractions here have been endless! However, judging by one page, it will be worth reading.

I hope so! It's sitting there waiting for me, looking very appealing.
