In Defense of Food is written by journalist Michael Pollan. You can read the introduction (scroll down), and a better review than I could ever do, here: www.michaelpollan.com/indefense.phpHe believes that most of what we eat should be leafy and unprocessed. There's nothing in this book that I found to be particularly shocking, but his statement that we should not eat any food that contains more than 5 ingredients got me thinking. Sticking to that pretty well rules out bought biscuits, many ice creams and other treats, which is the point of it. He points out that many breads contain more than 5 ingredients, which is something I had never considered. While I agree with his ideas on food, I think for many people the expense of eating the freshest, least processed food possible is just too costly.
