I everybody! I’m HappyAtHome, Mrs. Bee and I’ve been invited to moderate the Christian Homemaking forum. Please take the poll so I can have an idea of what interests you and what areas you would like to see covered in our forum. As I wrote these poll questions, I realise that some of them might be covered in other forums on this site. Should we consider condensing some into others, like we have done on some of the cooking forums? Also, is anyone interested in a personal Christain Homekeeping study, i.e., cleaning "our" Savior's home (our heart) using "homekeeping" topics as titles? Just a thought...let me know what you think! In Him, Mrs. Bee

The way I see it is that if non-Christians came to the site and they wanted to avoid Christian things, or things very Christian, they could go to the normal sections. However, not sure how much that happens.
Some people think that leads to cliques, but we don't have any of those here!
In Australia things are not so pronounced. Like Simple Living, I really struggle with that concept as an example. Is it like the new word for homesteading?
Anyway I will be interested to hear your thoughts everyone. Thanks to those who have voted already. And I will put some thought into my vote.

I think people think of "homesteading" as needing land to care for animals and gardens on a large scale as opposed to "simple living", which they feel can be done anywhere on any amount of land, animals or not. Really, to me, it's one in the same. I would hope that folks who read this site would do so for helpful info about hearth and home whether in the country on land or in town in an apartment! As far as reading it being a Christian or not; I guess it would be up to BR to make that detemination....is this a Christian site and should our forums be limited, so to speak, along scripture or "here are some threads and forums that do and some that don't"...a little for everybody? Is there a need for that clarification? What do you think? Do you feel a need for the distinction of seperation along those lines? Some do, some don't, but the owner of this site decides the rules and then lets the moderators know, so if there is a difference of opinion it won't bring the board down. When I found this site, I was under the idea that it was a Christian homesteading site as that was what I had typed into the search engine. I haven't changed my mind on that, I don't feel uncomfortable about any of it yet and if I did, I guess we could discuss it like grown-ups and if we couldn't agree on a course, then I would listen to my mama... ..."If you don't like it....turn the channel"!

I did some reading yesterday, and I think you are right about simple living, kind of urban homesteading. And you are right it is the same.

The study sounds interesting happyathome. Can you give us a little bit more of an idea.

Along these lines (I have seen ideas like this done on a few other sites.....) My mama use to say Mondays were cleaning days..so Monday would start off with..."when was the last time you cleaned your heart?" "Have you EVER cleaned your heart?" Tuesdays might be mending days..."when was the last time you mended things (relationships?) that God wanted you to mend?" Saturday...baking day..."what do you need to prepare for Sunday"? What are your thoughts? Did your mom (or do you) have days of the week set aside for certain chores?
