We moved in December so I'm starting all over again. This will be the 8th yard/garden I've done. This time we have and acre of land. There was only one big Beach tree on the property. I've planted 24 Arizona Cypress, several Leyland Cypress and Bradford Pear trees line the driveway. I have 3 Keefer Pear trees and a Cork***** Willow in the back. And there are several other hardwood trees started too. I've planted several types of shrubs and a few roses. I have Crape Myrtle's blooming. My tomatoes and cucumber are growing strong now. There are several types of herbs near the patio. The day-lilies are blooming along with the Russian Sage, Cosmos, Vinca, Salvia, Gerbera Daisies, Shasta Daisies, Candy Tuff, Lavender, Pincushion Plant, Spider Wart, Aster, Black Eyed Susan, Rose of Sharon, Canna, Canna Lillies, Asiatic Lillies, Lamps Ear, Hosta, Coral Bells, Astilbe, Angel Trumpet and 16 Rosemary plants. I plan to make a raised bed veggie garden next year. I will plant bulbs this fall for spring blooms. My Peony didn't bloom this year, hopefully it will next spring. I've been busy moving rocks and laying out different beds. We have really large rocks here on the property. We are the first house as you drive into our neighborhood and we are a corner lot. So we have to make all sides of the property look nice. We've been dealing with lots of rain these days, so the weeds are growing and I'm stuck inside unable to tend to gardening chores. Hopefully, next week will be better. Happy gardening ya'll!

Can we see pictures please??? I love everything you planted and can't wait to see it all. Did you learn something new each time Mimi. I know we have. We change our placement and other things each time we do another yard.

Okay, as soon as I figure it out and have time, I'll post some pictures. I've moved some stuff already. You know the soil we have here in GA is really bad dirt...LOL.

We moved a year before you in late January. So I guess 10 months earlier. It is our third garden not including the rental we had before this for a year. Hubby planted three pears along the suburban drive, ones that are straight up and down. Our rental had a lovely long drive, I loved all the plants along it.
We have two existing crepe myrtles (we spell it differently here) along the other fence out the front, the other fence is just driveway. The neighbours on the other side of our driveway have another set of two crepe myrtles, but a taller growing variety. So altogether we had four crepe myrtles to look at, three pink and one lilac.
We were given some tomato plants last summer (your winter) and planted them out the back, the dog ate the ripe ones, but I made fried green tomatoes for the first time and dh loved them.
The herbs near our paving out the back inherited are chives, fennel, mint and some strawberries that are doing good.
We were given day lilies and a flowering sage, I miss my rose-leafed sage though. Also given shastas, very pretty show with the sage and catmint in front of a pale green fence. I think we had candy tuff, lavender already. Don't have any pincushion or scabiosa, did though before. Have been collecting asters or Easter Daisies as we call them here. Got a pink one, it should fill out this year. Miss my lamb's ear. Got some coral bells from the craft shop where people put things up for sale and get the profits for themselves. Love astible, did have it. Scared to grow angels trumpet, have thought of it, had a thorn apple at the craft shop. Put in a rosemary and some catmint.
We were given some roses, nine and they were planted out the front with three left over and they are now in a round bed with bricks around the edge on their side. In there are tulips, calla lilies and nerines, all presents. My MIL is very generous, we have spent the last few weeks planting out her gifts and did the same thing last year.
The special thing I bought was a winter flowering buddliea. MIL gave us some osmanthus birkwoodi for a hedge.
I fully understand about the spring blooms, luckily MIL gave us large quantities of bulbs. They haven't flowered yet this spring, maybe they will. We did have some snowdrops and brought with us a handful of those red and white stripey bulbs, sparaxis, and liberated some more and thought we had lost them but this year we will see what color they are.
I think we killed our peonies, weren't quite ready for them, another gift.
We brought some rocks that we have been saving for maybe 10 years, a cobblestone or two and pieces in that shape. They have been made into a terrace ontop of the existing garden that has an edge.

Our sparaxis turned out to be red. They are red with pink stipey blotches, with a yellow centre and a dark color around the yellow. They are very hot looking in the garden.
The original sparaxis from our old home is white with a yellow centre and dark blotches around the edge of the yellow, with the back red stripes.
I hope to copy what was at my childhood schoolhouse and put a row of one color, probably the white ones along the shed wall now that we have sided it. They seem to fill out quickly here. They are very happy flowers, particularly the whiter one.
Does anyone else enjoy sparaxis? Our old neighbours in our home town had them in natural drifts or around a crepe myrtle.
Our coral bell, the red one has filled out well and is very pretty this year near the bluebells.
