The book I've started reading is a Booker Prize runner up. I've read many Booker Prize winners, mainly during my time in a book group. Some were awful, but many were a bit different and beautifully written. Got me thinking about what the Booker Prize actually is.

There's a website, which goes into greater detail about their stated objective:

"The Man Booker Prize for Fiction promotes the finest in fiction by rewarding the very best book of the year."
