I have done this tutorial with different colored yarns in sequence to make the stitches. I will be referring to each color in the pictures. I have tried to do this taking less pictures. So if you do not understand, please ask. In all pictures I will be referring to, I will go from top to bottom. Single Crochet Tutorial This tutorial will be done making 5 stitches. Top Yellow - Make a slip knot and chain 6. When working single crochet, you work your first stitch into the second chain from the hook. I have marked this stitch in black. Second White - Insert your hook into the second chain from the hook. Third Purple - Yarn over and draw through 1 loop. (2 loops remaining on hook.) Bottom White - Yarn over and draw through 2 loops. Single crochet completed. (1 loop on hook. ) Continue these last 3 steps in the remaining 4 chains. Top Yellow - 5 single crochets complete. I have marked the first (on the right) middle and last stitches so you can see them. Bottom Purple - Chain 1 and turn. Note: When working in single crochet, you will always chain 1 and turn.

This next picture is showing you the stitches from the top. The way I am holding it, my thumb (bottom of the picture) is the side that should be towards you after you chain 1 and turn. I have blackened the first stitch and the last stitch in the row. Remember to pick up both loops of a stitch unless the pattern you are using calls for working in the front or back loops only. Row 2: 1) Insert hook into the top of the first single crochet, 2) yarn over, 3) pull through 1 loop, 4) yarn over, pull through 2 loops. Do these 4 steps in the next 4 single crochets. I have blackened where the last single crochet is to work into. 5 single crochets completed on row 2. (I have also done a chain 1 preparing to turn in this next picture.) End of TutorialIf you have any questions, please post them in the Crocheting Tutorial Questions thread.
