Wow. That has been something I have been wondering about. When eldest ds was home I starting buying more than 1lb or 500g of meat for our family which contained seven people at the time. I tried to get 700g for a night's meal, which is OK. And we do feel healthier doing that. However, some nights are meatless. But I always have legumes etc. so that is covered. When we have sausages and vegetable dishes it is probably over 500g for the 6 of us, which I guess is OK too. Yes, I am big, and I would need the 100g, which I didn't realise. Interesting. I suppose the little girls eat less so it is about right.
