Found this on a blog:
"Beware of little expenses; a small leak will sink a great ship. Benjamin Franklin"
It got me thinking about the small amounts of money that can go "missing" each pay period. Today I was at Border's - a fabulous book shop. I was looking for a specific book for eldest ds. The book wasn't there, and I soon found myself at a "3 for the price of 2" table.
I nearly took three books to the checkout. Three books that I could have easily borrowed from the library instead. What finally stopped me was looking at the back of the one of the books. At full retail price of $27.50, that "free" book would have cost me around $55!
The simple process of thinking about what the books would COST me rather than how much the "special" deal would SAVE me was enough to restore sanity in an environment that makes it too easy to spend.
