Tired of the same old holiday décor year after year? Try our easy ideas for creating a festive ambiance with a bit of a twist. The whole family will have fun joining in, and coming up with more ideas that inspire and delight.
* Use a three-tiered glassed cake stand as a table centerpiece. Pile it up with all white desserts: white chocolate-covered pretzels, meringue cookies, and a tower of hand-made marshmallows on top. * For a sparkling table, on top of a single toned tablecloth scatter handfuls of pearlescent petals and Lucite crystals. * Get glowing. Corral all your candlesticks in one spot. * Gather clear glass votives on a baking tray, tucking mounds of moss around them. * Lace the tree with clear and frosted white lights. * Misting will keep it fresh for two weeks. * Decorate with fruit — it’s less perishable and more economical than flowers. * Any object from nature — the humblest acorns or branches of bittersweet—can be a centerpiece. * Wall paper from the hardware store makes an inexpensive wrapping. * Strings of fairy lights crisscrossed trellis-style a few inches beneath the ceiling, intertwined with ivy can transform a foyer. * Don’t dismiss carnations. They smell wonderful and last longer than any other cut flowers. * Suspend a magnolia wreath from the ceiling. * Decorate a menorah with moss.
