Do you have a favourite furniture style or wood tone that is your personal choice?
Me, I love oak. I am an oak person thru and thru..next I would choose pine. I don't like dark furniture much at all. At least not in my home.
My style is old, country, prim, distressed. Wormwood, things that look as if they were used centuries ago.
I also love the Queen Anne look.
You?

hmmm....when I was younger, I favored the oak. Now I lean more toward the cherry. But nearly all of the furniture we have is oak.
I love the country look too. But I lean more toward country french, somewhat traditional. I also love the tuscany look.

Jayne,
I am betting I would fall in love with your home. I too love the white distressed look and I have been trying to get dh to agree to paint and distress our master bedroom set which is 30 years old and too dark and really dated. I think if I distressed or crackled it and changed the handles it would look so much better. I don't much like mixy matchy either. Although this home is more matchy than the one in Michigan..

Well, my favorite is Oak but my bedroom is all Mahogany. My living room is soft pine, and my dining room USE to be Oak, now it's just some ugly stuff we thought we liked, but will be changing it soon. ;D

There is not as much oak in Australia, although modern houses probably have it as there are more woods around now.
I have some some wood that is paler than pine, forgotten what it is called.

Maybe it is Beech, will come to me later.
We have a Kauri piece, it is pale. I also have a towel rail in Jarrah which is reddish, it is a bit worse for wear at the moment but can be fixed.
