Planning to begin making your own homemade potpourri. Here is a list of things you will need to have on hand in order to create. Remember these items will only be used for making potpourri. Do not use them for cooking or any thing else once you use them with potpourri ingredients and oils.
A large bowl, preferable glass Measuring spoons and cups Wooden sitrring spoons eye droppers scissors sharp knife paper bags wax paper
fixatives (this can be whole orris root, powdered orris root, or another type of material than is able to absorb the oils and hold the fragrance.mosses such as spanish moss can be used also)
oils, a variety of oils. Use only full strength essential oils. (do not use the kind sold in Wal-Marts. They aren't essential oils and the fragrance won't last long.
Small cellophane or plastic bags to store the finished potpourri in or give it as gifts in.
Ready, lets choose a recipe, gather some ingredients and make some potpourri !!

OK what next? Wait can we do this as a group project and swap? I think it'd be really neat to see what everyone comes up with.

Car, if you were me, and thinking of making potporri gifts for Christmas, would you get the EO's or the fragrance oils from www.sfherb.com/default.asp?So far, this is just an idea of mine. I thought I could make scented sachets for the ladies in the family for Christmas.

Definitely get the essential oiils. While they are more expensive the scent last much longer and you use much less oils.
The ladies will love these when you give them. Potpourri is fun and easy to make. Enjoy and if you have more questions let me know.
