I had what I thought was going to be a huge problem Friday when Daniel got home from school. His back pack had bled Sharpie marker ink(where he had written on it) on his shorts. His pack had gotten wet standing in the rain talking to his girlfriend! This spot was HUGE! I thought the shorts were a lose for sure , after trying everything I could think of, vinegar, alcohol, fingernail polish remover, etc... I thought, well, maybe if I just dab some clorax on them and rinse really well I won't fade the color. So here is what I did and it worked! I took a white wash cloth and wet it with hot water, then I tipped the bottle of clorax just to get some on my towel, I then dabbed at the spot rinsed really well under hot water after each dabbing I did , and continued doing this until the stain was gone. I then covered the spot (or where it had been) with laundry soap (liquid) and worked it in and again rinsed well. His shorts are a camel colored and the spot is gone ;Dwith NO white spot!!! It was tedious but well worth the time and effort I put forth. I figued by doing that I saved myself about $40.00 for a new pair of shorts

you go girl! quick thinking there. my oldest son had a gel pen in his pants....i just despise all those pockets on cargo pants.....anyway, it ruined a pair of his brother's shorts. talk about a mess. i was and still am so mad at him. 18 yrs old and can't even check his pockets? my dh keeps telling me i should let him do his own laundry. anyway, glad you were able to save them!

This morning before school DH was drying DS17's school pants because DS had forgotten to put them up to dry last night. He was saying things about DS forgetting, but he does his laundry himself so the odd forgotten thing isn't so bad.
Well done Ellise!

Thanks for the tip Ellise. I have gotten ink on the pockets of my scrubs from work before after I forgot to recap a marker or a pen. I will try this next time.
