sheets or vinegar. What do you use to soften your clothing and take out the static cling.
I use liquid. I would love to use vinegar as I know it is better on the environment and less pricey, but I also read that vinegar is hard on your washing machine.

Nine times out of ten I use no fabric softener, also I line dry, but most of our clothes are cotton or a cotton blend, we don't wear much in the way of man-made fibres here. As for vinegar, I use it sometimes, but I don't see why it would be bad for a washing machine. It gets rid of any soap residue, which would be a good thing for the machine, unless the acidic nature is supposed to damage things?

MissViolet, when I purchased my last machine the salesperson told me not to use vinegar that it damages the working parts of the machine, but I question that myself.

I wonder how it can damage anything, vinegar is more natural than liquid softener. Oh well, I use both but mainly liquid, original scent Downy is my fave! ;D

I love liquid Downy when I can afford it. Otherwise I don't use anything.

Girls, well if you notice when you buy a machine you usually find a brand of detergent sample inside of it..My guess would be that the makers of the machine are owned by the same companies that make the detergents and fabric softeners. LOL

Occasionally we'll buy liquid Downy, but I buy sheets more often.
