How do you deal with mending?
We haven't a drycleaner in town. We have lived here 3 years. Not sure if you can send mending down, probably not. Mostly my Mum does it, and lately my husband since our machine is so touchy to use. I might do some simple things by hand.
Yesterday we did an alteration to the length of ds's good new trousers.

Being short, I'm always taking up the hems on jeans! Also sleeves. The only mending I won't do is zippers where they are conspicuous, my machine does not have a very good zipper foot. The old one used to do them well, but not this one.
I actually loathe mending and tend to put it off, but once it's done I invariably think how much quicker it was than expected.

That is good Violet. (About it being quicker.)

I tend to put off mending too If there is no drycleaner near you, do you attempt to clean dry cleanables at home? Just wondering. I have some silk blouses and a wool coat and I am afraid to try and clean those at home.

I think we had some things done before we moved.
I can get things sent away to be cleaned, but haven't had to do it yet.
I guess the suit coats are probably due for something like that. Hmm.

I'm reckless with clothes; I'll attempt to wash most things. Silks I do wash in almost-cold water, very carefully, but suits and really tailored stuff is sent to the cleaners. I suppose if there's no drycleaner around, the clothes can be spot-cleaned and aired regularly to delay the inevitable.
