I was interested to see some lovely products with the name starting with "eco" in the health food shop. Has anyone bought any there?
I also saw the same brand on an episode of UK Wife Swap, one of the eco episodes.

Some of them are not what they appear to be, I gather. I have read some interesting stuff about those soap nuts on various sites (not their own!). www.soapinanutshell.com.au/

I sent my sister some stuff from the "ethical superstore" in the UK (my sis is currently in london) including soap nuts - and she said they work really well. I've heard the eco-balls work really well too, but both these products are really expensive (in NZ at least). I might have to grow my own soap nuts! Some of the products labelled "earth friendly" say they have "plant-based nutrients" or herbal essences, but many of them contain other stuff that isn't so good. Look out for palm oil, in a lot of soaps and other products. In many countries, particularly Indonesia and the Phillippines, they have destroyed rainforests to make way for palm oil plantations.
