Does anyone go camping? We have lots of camping gear but haven't been this year . I was just wondering if anyone else does the camping thing? Where do you go? What do you do? We usually go up to Kerr Lake and pitch our tent for the kiddos, and we do the camper thing. Daniel usually brings along a couple of friends so they boys sleep in the tent mostly. i enjoy being on the lake, swimming, fishing, riding in the boat etc... but I also like hiking through the woods when we go camping, so I am wanting to try a new place maybe closer to where we are.

No we never went camping. I never had the courage with the boys when they were young and now we just aren't organized for that....and I like my bed. lol.... Luckily, we can come at my parents' home to be in the woods to enjoy nature, the beach and all of God's miracles...

I haven't been camping since I was a kid. I would love to go, but I want a 5th wheel with all the bells and whistles and plenty of room to take my kids too! ;D
So seeings I don't have that, I have to agree with Car, a Holiday Inn without a pool is my idea of camping right now too. *laughing*

Went camping this past weekend. Girl Scout camp. There were 103 girls and 33 or so, workers. We slept in tents, ate on the ground and did not have showers. It was a Friday night - Sunday noon thing. Had to hike up hill to the bathrooms and there were only 3 of them. Ryan had fun but it's not something we would want to make a habit of. We are nice hotel people. LOL

We went a lot when the kids were younger but we sold our motorhome when we bought our new house so we have not gone at all in the last few years. I would love to go again but not until we purchase another camper. I would prefer a pull behind camper this time, so that we can ride together to the lake or the mountains and still have a vehicle to leave the campsite in.
We ususally went to a local lake or to some small Mountains that are local. You ladies closer to "real mountains" would call ours large hills, LOL.

I have to admit, I really enjoy camping. Either way in the tent or in the camper. I even like Carolyn's way But what I really enjoy most is going to Pigeon Forge, and renting a chalet for 4 or 5 days. Just to soak in God's beauty that surrounds us. Hiking down the mountains, and stopping by a babbling brook just taking it all in.

Hubby and I just returned from a 9 day stay Lake Cumberland Ky. We have a seasonal camper at the campground. My brother also has one and it's nice to have family time there. 5 other families were also there this week. Lots of good food and friends. We like to fish and hubby fried up some bass and strippers, and everyone bought a dish, it was a delicious meal. One couple rented a houseboat and we spent 4 days out on the lake. We used to rough it when we camped but now in our older years, I like having air, sewer, heat when you need it.....lol Kygal

We used to take the old motorhome down to that flat spot by the river, you know, on the end of county line road where the bridge washed out 30 years ago. We bought a new pop-up a couple of months ago. We've taken it to Boone once and Mom wants to go back Labor Day. It's hard to get away when you have papers to deliver every night.
We mostly do the primitive thing, fish, hike, play in the mud.

ky gal. sounds like a fun time. I saw Lake Cumberland for the first time a few months ago. Simply beautiful. I can understand why you like it. Our dd lives in Columbia and when dh and I were over there helping to work on their new/old farmhouse we took a day off for a drive to see the area. We drove over to LC. Lovely. Do you live near Columbia.

I live near Lexington Ky. It's about a 2-hour drive for us to LC and we usually go just about every week. I love spending time with the family.

LOL Well, I hadn't been camping since I was a kid, prior to moving here to NZ. Now, every Christmas, we spend two weeks camping in our pop-up camper at a couple campgrounds - each for about a week.
We also do some 4wd trips with a local club, to places where you can't tow a trailer. ;-) On those trips, we sleep in a tent or in the back of the Land Rover. On our most spectacular trip, we were at the base of about three or four glaciers, with a full moon lighting up the snowy peaks so brightly that it looked almost like daylight all night long.
When camping, we normally do quite a bit of exploring and hiking.
