Do you like it, listen to it....who are your favourites. Do you prefer young country as opposed to the older music. And do you like Bluegrass? I love young country and listen to it alot. My favourites are Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, and Reba McEntire. The older twang music is so so. I do love Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty though. As to Bluegrass.. Nope, not in my lifetime..LOL

I like it all, even twangy stuff and bluegrass! ;D
I love Charlie Pride, Reba, Shania, Conway, Dolly but my all time favorite is Patsy Cline!
Groups I would have to say my favorite is Brooks and Dunn.

I'm not crazy about the real twangy stuff, but I do enjoy some country music. Brooks & Dunn, Reba, Faith Hill, Leann Womack, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, John Michael Montgomery, Travis Tritt, Little Texas, so I guess the answer would be I like the younger stuff, but I also like Bluegrass sometimes too

I have been listening to Lee Kernaghan, who mentions Faith Hill in one of his songs. He says we listened to Waylon Jennings, I think when he was growing up. Sorry, the kids are making noise, hope that was the right one!

He's an Aussie country singer; I first became familiar with him through his song "Boys in the Bush", which a friend's band played when I was in NZ in 2000.
Country music's not big here in NZ - although some people think it is. There are quite a few country compilation CDs in the stores, but most of it - like, 98% - is pre-1980s, with only the occasional song from the 1980s added, and only a few crossover artists from the 1990s and more recently - Faith Hill, Shania, Lone Star's "Amazed", "I Hope You Dance", Martina's "In My Daughter's Eyes" - things like that.
No country music radio stations in Christchurch; there is a very odd station that plays a mix of music including some old country, some oldies rock covers (with local artists as opposed to original artists), some showtunes, some gospel - a very strange mix; however, it has a weak signal and I can seldom pick it up.
I grew up on 1970s country, with a fair share of 1960s country still hanging around. I still love it. I was able to fulfill one goal - to see George Jones and Merle Haggard live in concerts - a few years ago; Loretta Lynn and Willie Nelson would be high on my list.
I like and even love a lot of the young country, but it'll never hold a spot in my heart the way the older stuff does. Nowadays, particular songs get to me, but there aren't a lot of artists who are just 'have-to-sees'. I did see Randy Travis and Alan Jackson and was impressed with both; others disappointed me. Overall, I prefer a more traditional sound than the pop country sound; for instance, I think Shania has one heckuva country voice, but hasn't fully used it in that style since her second or third album.
I do go to an online radio station from time to time so I can hear some new country music, and I have heaps of mp3s as well.
And, I do listen to a variety of other music.

The song in which Lee Kernaghan mentions Faith Hill I beleive is "Something in the Water". Colin Buchanan writes some songs for Lee. He is a Christian who lives in Sydney I think, who was involved in children's TV and is also a country artist.
I have just bought "1959", not as good as the last one I bought possibly named "Just the Way It Is".
Maybe you could listen to "Something In the Water" on the internet.
I am unsure which old country Lee likes. It could be the artist you mentioned Beth. 1959 has some great instrumental like some of those older artists. I like the song "Doctor" for that reason.
Shannon Noll being from the country is nice. I quite like his new song "Shine". He has a country accent, and I have been trying to figure out if I have one too.
Shannon was the runner up in the first Australian Idol.

Yep, I watched AU Idol - miss seeing "American Idol" which I think is the best of the lot - bigger population and better judges ;-) but here it's no longer broadcast on prime time, but is on at around 5pm which is before I begin watching tv and thus I normally forget about it.
I remember Shannon, and Guy, and a few of the others. Season 3 should be starting soon, shouldn't it? Season 2 of NZ Idol started a couple months ago but it was pretty horrible the first year so I haven't bothered this year - it's on at the same time as my must-see "Top Gear" on Sundays, too.
It's hard to find NZ and AU music on the net but I'll try to find Lee's "Something in the Water".
Right now, I'm listening to a Bobby Bare collection, and it's on "Back Home in Huntsville Again". Huntsville is a prison in Alabama (well, it's a town, too!). I like old country songs about prison and drinking. :-D

Australian Idol is starting to warm up. They have about 10 people left. It is on Sunday 7.30 here, tonight they say goodbye to another person. Last night they had a super group night and they mostly did Queen. This may help: www.australianidol.bigpond.com.au/I think we like Mark Holden and Marcia Hines because they were artists when I was a teenager or older child. Dicko has gone to another channel, he was on My Restaurant Rules. I love watching him actually.

I like some of the new.........and some of the old. Love the group Alabama and another Patsy Cline fan here!!
I have learned to appreciate the bluegrass sound. We took a vacation to the North GA mountains a few years ago. Free bluegrass concert in the park that evening. I don't know if I have ever heard such a beautiful sound as that music echoing thru the valley.......I'll never forget seeing a little bitty redhaired girl of about 4 waltz with her daddy. Truly one of the prettiest things I've ever seen!

I love country music. I like the new country but I am fond of the old country too. I love Conway and Loretta, Tammy and George, Merle Haggard, Charley Pride and Johnny Cash among many more. I enjoy hearing Elvis sing country too.
I like most of the new superstar young country singers too. Tim McGraw/Faith Hill, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, Van Zandt.
And how could I have left the best for last----George Strait. He makes my heart beat faster and my knees go weak just looking at him.

Our daughter brought home a DVD from the library last night, with different country singers on it, all Australian. She saw the photo of Lee Kernaghan and thought we might like it. Each singer does one song each with a video clip. Should be nice to watch.

Well apart from Anne Kirkpatrick and Lee Kernaghan the rest I didn't like. Sometimes you have to try things I guess.
